Oh, Those Were The Days! And Still Are.
We have a copy of this old advertisement in our office as reminder—not what we sell, but as a testament to the grit, longevity and love that our family has enjoyed since 1919.
If you’re a business owner, you can imagine how challenging a home improvement family business can be; this is not your typical Thanksgiving dinner either 😀. Jason Kersch (the little kid on Mitch’s lap) is our 4th generation owner alongside Mitch, his father, who is still very active in the business.
Regardless of how family dynamics and personalities play out in a family-business setting, there is one common theme that instantly dissolves all disagreements: An uncompromising commitment to delivering exceptional service and value to our customers.
We often argue, as all business owners or families do, but we end with a simple question: “What is in the best interest of the homeowner?” There is never an argument there.
We never take our longevity or large following and referrals (2nd and 3rd generations of our original customers are now shopping where their parents told them to shop) for granted. We know that we have to work hard and earn every job and every great review or referral.
In the words of one of recent repeat customers, “No one is coming through my front door to change our roof, siding or windows, unless they have a Major Homes shirt on. You’ve earned that right after serving my parents and my family.”
